The Fish Ponds

Before the 80s prawn farming had already started in the Philippines, but the real boom in production began in the mid-1980s, as prominent families in the Negros Province began converting their sugar plantations into ponds. They saw shrimp farming as a more profitable alternative to sugar. These ponds are now being used for Milk Fish, Tilapia and Vannamei Shrimp farming.
